Wilkinson Sword Survival Knife MkII

Just… Wow!
Wilkinson Sword Survival Knife Mk II
from the late 1980s and in extraordinary condition!
Designed by Ray Mears

We see maybe one of these each year. Never have we seen one in this condition with its original packaging and accessories. This is the MkII Knife in highly-polished steel. The blade is in the best condition we have ever seen in 15 years of selling this Knife and bears only a few thin surface scratches from removal/insertion in scabbard.

It comes with its original cardboard box sleeve, inner box and wadding. Also intact are the owner’s leaflet, survival kit tube and button compass, with metal match, fishing line, 4 swivels, 2 plastic ball weights, 2 hooks and 2 with lures.  Its serial number is engraved on the tang: 2477.  The Wilkinson Sword logo is engraved on one side of the Blade and the Royal coat of arms/appointment on the other.  Missing are the tweezers and 2 needles plus the small card Warranty tag that was tied through the lanyard rivet.  It has some initials lightly engraved on the end of the tang (hidden under handle: N D H).

HISTORY
Designed by UK bushcraft expert Ray Mears*, the Survival Knife was released by Wilkinson Sword circa 1986. The MkI came with a brass-coloured locking pommel nut. The MkII had a silver-coloured locking nut.  The Knives either came in a cardboard inner box with wadding to secure the Knife inside or a polystyrene inner box cut out to take the Knife plus lid. Each was numbered 1*** and 2*** respectively. Two versions of the Knife were available: light satin bead-blasted finish and highly-polished steel, which looked almost like chrome. It was withdrawn a few years later to eventually be replaced by the Dartmoor Knife in 2003, which was a redesign of the original Survival Knife.
