THIS KNIFE IS NO LONGER MADE!
Your world-renowned Woodlore Knife was designed by Ray Mears. It was hand-made by Alan Wood. This is your rare opportunity to obtain what must be the rarest and highest acclaimed knife in Bushcraft, the Ray Mears Woodlore Knife.
This Knife is in good, used condition. It is one of the earlier Woodlore Knives with a slightly narrower palm swell and the optional untapered tang.
RAY MEARS/ALAN WOOD WOODLORE KNIFE – DESCRIPTION
Your Woodlore knife has gained a huge following, not only because it is the favoured knife of the world-famous survival and bushcraft expert Ray Mears, but mainly because it is an excellent cutting tool.
This knife is no longer made. It cannot be obtained.
Your Ray Mears Woodlore knife is expertly crafted from 01 high carbon tool steel, which is strong, sharpens to a very fine edge, and has a full tang sculpted scale handle in bird’s eye maple. It has superb handle symmetry, feels comfortable in the hand, and will not rub or chafe your skin, even after extended use.
The blade is made of 01 high carbon tool steel, which is resilient, very tough, and – unlike other steels used in cheaper knives - easy to sharpen outdoors. Crucially for bushcraft use, the blade has good hardness, good toughness, and robust wear resistance.
Your knife is approx 22cm long (9”). It sharpens very well using water stones, it is extremely strong with a full-length tang, which tapers to 3mm at the butt. The Woodlore is a good length for bushcraft wood carving. It splits wood easily when used with a batten.
The Woodlore is not a ‘display knife’ for polishing and looking at. It is the supreme ‘do the job’ bushcraft tool, for use in the field. Included is a Woodlore Neck Sheath, hand-made for this Knife.
